How do I change / add records to the DNS zone of my domain?

By registering a domain with MKhost you get a free service, DNS hosting, which gives you complete control over your DNS zone. That is, through your user profile you will be able to manage all the records for your DNS zone, such as A, AAAA, MX, CNAME, NS, TXT, SRV records. You can freely add, delete and change additional records in the DNS zone. In addition, with one click you can configure and use Google's MX records. And if you make a mistake, you can recreate the entire zone.

For the records entered in the DNS zone to be valid, the domain's name servers need to be MKhost's. If the name servers point somewhere else, the records in MKhost's DNS zone will not be taken into account at all.

There are two ways to manage the DNS zone. The first is through your user profile -portal.mkhost.com- using the DNS hosting, and the second is through cPanel and is possible if you have already purchased web hosting with MKhost.

Managing your domain's DNS zone through your user profile with the DNS hosting service:

Log in to your user profile atportal.mkhost.com

In the menu click on Domains and select the domain you want to make a change for

In the newly opened window click onDNS Zone

From here you can manage the DNS records and view the default DNS zone, in which you already have an A Record, MX Record and CNAME Record set up. You can change the already existing and created records, or add new records. When making any change to the existing records, or when adding a new record, to save it just click to the side and wait a few seconds, after which you will get a notification that the record has been saved

For the changes you have made to be active, you need to check whether the domain is set to the main DNS servers: dns1.mk-host.mk and dns2.mk-host.mk.If you want to return the DNS zone to the very beginning - to the state it was in when the zone was first created - click on Reset DNS zone. Be careful, with this action all the current records are deleted and the zone is recreated with the default records.If you want to delete the DNS zone completely, click on Delete DNS zone. Be careful, with this action the DNS zone for this domain will no longer exist, and if the domain is not pointed to the appropriate name servers it may stop working.

Downloading a backup copy of the DNS zone

Before making changes, it is always good practice to save a local copy of the current records. In the DNS ZONE tab, in the dark blue bar at the top on the right-hand side, click on the"Export DNS zone" button.The system will automatically generate a text file with the complete list of active records. Save the file on your computer so you have a backup copy in case you want to restore the original settings.

Managing your domain's DNS zone through cPanel

Log in to your cPanel accountIn theDomainssection click onZone Editor.

In the newly opened window, in theDomainsection, all the domains you have on the hosting will be displayed. Next to the domain you want to make a change for, click on the A Record, CNAME Record or MX Record button, depending on which record you want to change.

A new window will open where you need to enter an A Record, CNAME Record or MX Record (in this particular case, in the image below, we are entering an A Record) and finally click on Add an A Record to save the changes.

If you want to enter a new record such as AAAA (IPv6 Address), SRV (Service Record), TXT (Text Record) and others, click on the Manage button.

Select the relevant record you want to change and click on the Edit button.

Once you have made the changes, click on Save Record
