Staying Safe During a Phishing Incident

At MKhost, your security is our highest priority. Sometimes, malicious actors may attempt to impersonate MKhost or other trusted services in order to deceive you and gain access to your personal information. These attempts are known as phishing attacks.

This article explains how to recognize phishing messages, what MKhost will never ask from you, and what steps you should take to stay safe during an active phishing incident.

What is Phishing?

Phishing is a type of online scam where attackers send fake emails, SMS messages, or links that appear to come from a trusted company (such as MKhost). Their goal is to:

  • steal your username and password

  • collect personal or payment information

  • install malicious software on your device

  • trick you into paying for a service that you never purchased from them, causing financial damage

These messages often create a sense of urgency, for example by claiming that your account will be suspended, that you must immediately “verify” your information, or that your domain/hosting will be suspended and stop working.

Important Notice from MKhost

MKhost will never:

  • ask for your password via email, SMS, or phone

  • ask for full payment card details or CVV code via email

  • send you a login or payment link outside the official MKhost website (https://mkhost.com) for domain or hosting payments

  • send you emails from an address that does not end with the domain:
    @mkhost.com or @mkhost.com.mk

If you receive a message requesting any of the above, it was not sent by MKhost.

All emails sent by MKhost will come from @mkhost.com or @mkhost.com.mk.
All online payments for your MKhost services can be made only through the official MKhost website (mkhost.com) after logging into the customer portal.

How to Recognize a Phishing Message

Be cautious if you notice any of the following:

  • suspicious sender address (minor spelling mistakes or unusual domains)

  • urgent or threatening language (“Your account will be closed today”, “Your domain will be suspended”, “Your email will stop working”)

  • unexpected attachments or links

  • generic greetings (“Dear customer” instead of your name)

  • poor grammar or spelling

Always check links by hovering your cursor over them (without clicking) to see where they actually lead.

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Message

  • do not click on links or download attachments

  • do not reply to the message

  • take a screenshot or save the message as evidence

  • report it to MKhost support via the customer portal or official support channels

  • delete the message after reporting it

  • never make payments on suspicious websites for any service (including domain or hosting), unless it is the official website of the company you are working with

How to Safely Access MKhost

Always access your account in one of the following ways:

  • type the official MKhost website address (mkhost.com) directly into your browser

  • use a bookmark that you created yourself

Do not use links from emails that are not sent from @mkhost.com, or login links from social media posts that are not published by MKhost’s official profiles.

Protect Your Account

We recommend the following security practices:

  • use a strong and unique password for your MKhost account

  • enable two-factor authentication (2FA), if available

  • do not reuse the same password on other websites

  • keep your device and web browser up to date

If You Have Already Clicked a Link or Entered Information

If you believe you have interacted with a phishing message:

  • scan your device for viruses or malware

  • contact MKhost support as soon as possible if you have provided information such as a username or password, so we can help secure your account

  • if you made a payment through a malicious link, immediately contact your bank and report the case to the relevant authorities, such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the Cybersecurity Department

Current Incident Status

If there is an active phishing incident, MKhost will publish updates on the official MKhost website and in the customer portal. Rely only on official channels for information and instructions.
