How to create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) in cPanel

Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is a file that contains information about your domain and is required when an SSL certificate is issued.

Follow the steps below to generate a new CSR in cPanel.

Step 1:Log in to cPanel

Log in to your cPanel account.

Step 2:Open the SSL/TLS Certificates section

Then click on the Request section

Step 3:You will find the Generate a New Certificate Signing Request (CSR) section

Step 4:Fill in the required information

You need to enter the following details:

Field Description Domains Enter the domain the SSL certificate will be issued for (for example: example.com orwww.example.com). City City. State Municipality/Region/Province. Country Select the country from the list. Company The name of the company or organization. You can also enter a personal name. Company Division Department (for example: IT, Sales, Administration). Email Contact e-mail address. Passphrase Leave empty Description Optional – enter a description so the CSR is easier to recognize.

Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.

Step 5:Generate the CSR

Once you have filled in all the fields, click on:

Generate

Step 6:Copy the CSR code

After it is generated successfully, a text will be displayed that begins with:

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

and ends with:

-----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

Copy the entire text, including the first and the last line.
